The first time I played Daytona 2 was on a DX in a local arcade in 1998, I was completley blown away by the awesome graphics, pumping soundtrack and brilliant gameplay - I quickly got a taste for the game's style of play, powersliding, drafting and of course the carnage! I was hooked. As much as I loved the first Daytona I can happily admit to preferring the sequel, and I avidly followed it from day one.
Like many, I was gutted when it never made it home (I even bought a Dreamcast thinking that it was a cert) and as a result I've lost count of the amount I've spent playing it in the arcades, though in my area there have only ever been a few of these beauties around (by contrast Daytona 1 was everywhere) Now I'm seriously considering buying my own Twin cabinet when I can get the readies together - a home release would be most welcome (I have an XBox 360) but I've always played it on the original hardware, so that's the games spiritual home for me. And yes I've signed the petition!
I'm pretty nifty at the game, haven't ever written down my times but I'm all over the high score tables on the machine at my local arcade :-)

The first time I played was when the bowling alley opened here in the city. They had 2 DX linked up. My BF and I where hooked from start. And started to visit th bowling on a regular basis to play solo or against each other. Damn, sometimes we where playing and when we would look around, there would be a bunch of ppl around us seeing us play. XD Nowadays, there's only 1 arcade place and only has Daytona USA 1, a twin cabinet. In the regional fairs, you only see Daytona 1 and Sega Rally cabinets... Never Day2 cabinets.
I really hope that someday SEGA releases this on XBLA and PSN. ASAP. I miss playing the game, and my PC is far from able to run SuperModel3 on a decent and playable status. XD
Yeah, I also aimed to get a DX myself when I was younger... But unfortunatelly, life sometimes turns around and some of your goals just get out of reach, either for one or other reason... But, hey, dream never ends. It's still a goalto me. =P
